The Good the Bad and the Ugly

Okay okay, so I know that the latest blogs that I have been doing are pretty much rants to the world, that are never really happy thoughts and I try to find happy thoughts to put into them but I have discovered that this form of ranting helps me calm down instead of taking it out on the people I love.
So let us start with the good, and that is it is starting to look more like spring which is great I love the warm but at the same time I love the snow, I never really went snowboarding this season and I wish I could have gone more but time just was not on my side this winter. That is okay though I love the spring as well because I can start to do other outdoor activities, such as hiking! Yes hiking the one activity that you can do and let all the worries of your business and commercial life go. I plan to hike everywhere. Also I have given up Facebook for lent so until Easter I will not be on. The good thing about that is I actually get more time in my life, instead of being Mr. Have to know it all and look at everyone's profile I spend it on more useful things, like homework, emailing teachers, and being just plain awesome. (I think I used the wrong word there)
Okay for the bad, I got a horrid score on my chem test, but I'm not going to blame anyone but myself for this one because I was irresponsible and under-estimated the test which is my problem with a lot of tests and I wish I did not have this problem but I do. I feel that I'm too smart for the test and so I barely study and I don't stay for the reviews just because I would rather spend my time doing other things like talking with friends, or messing with photoshop. But no worries right now both of the classes that I have struggled in with tests have very awesome prof. who believe in giving the students a second chance and if you do well on the other tests you shoult not worry about the bad grade, so cross your fingers and hopefully all pass with all A's and B's I could live with maybe a C but not all C's. So I will be working hard for the rest.
Alright so lets get to the down right ugly.... Mormons yes Mormons and not just mormons I'm talking about Utah Mormons, I really don't associate with these Utah Mormons I just hear through the grape vine about them. Utah Mormons are prideful arrogent LDS people who believe that if you are not like them then you are scum and they don't associate with scum it seems that they have become a pseudo-hollywood where in hollywood the highest on the class system is the A list and you have to have a certain amount of fame to be on the A list. For some celebs the feel they can treat other celebs like scum because they arent as cool. (wow look how much has changed from the high school years). These Utah LDS members are trying to gain a ton of what I'll call "holy".(I'm not saying its bad to be good and dilagent) Its when they feel that they have gained more holy than others that they begin to be prideful and treat other like crap. It becomes worse when a group of the "high holy people" and they all begin to spread rumors and look at people with glaring looks. (I swear.. I thought I was finished with high school 3 years ago) I have heard many stories of people doing absurd things in church, these things are worthy of them getting a slap in the face. Most of the time its in the young adults the ones who did so well in high school that they conciously want to keep it the same as high school, lets face it, in college when a peer talks back to you or doesn't agree with you you don't have a teacher to sit there and hold your hand, and trying to spread rumors is even immature for high school students, I have to deal with enough drama as a group leader for elementary students. It's also very immature to try and tell others not to hang out with the non LDS people because they will bring you down. I have one question for that comment which is a comment that I have heard more than once, how in the world are you supposed to share the gospel if you can't associate yourself with the non LDS members, this comment is mainly for the males if you can't make friends with the non LDS ones your not going to go far in the mission field in most cases you build a friendship while you preach to them, sure there are a few cases where they have just wanted to join the church because of a feeling but the missionaries still had to be nice to them. Also when parents try and filter their kids friends it just screws the kid up socially. Sure keep the kid away from the drugys and the alcoholics, but not everyone who is non mormon drinks and smokes alot of them are more of a Mormon than some people in the church. I'm not against the church and I'm not trying to prove that the church is horrid in anyway. I'm just sayin some of the members need to grow up, and not only the young adults I have heard of some absurd cases where it has involved older adults.

The Life and Times of Scott

Alright so I had a blog idea but then I put it off for too long and I forgot parts of what I was going to blog about. I remember part was because of a Prop 8 article I read that just pissed me off. Another part was a Buddhist parable I read that just made my day, and then I forgot the rest of it. I'm trying to make a happy peaceful blog about flower and birds and rainbows but every time I get an idea for an amazing happy blog something or someone screws it up by doing something stupid that I see or read and makes me lose the happiness inside of me. Because usually I see the glass as half full so thus I am an optimistic person.
So I'll start off the blog by telling you happy things that have happened so you know that I'm somewhat of a happy person. I got a 92 on my math test (yay me!). I got an awesome laptop, I went to the open house of the draper temple which was pretty awesome. I'm going X-country skiing. I got money. I get a letter back from my missionary friend Malcolm (yes I finally got off my butt and sent the letter). I'm pretty sure theres more but I can't think of it off the top of my head.
Anyways, on to other news. So the other day I was heading home and decided to pick up some literature to read, USA Today, Daily Chronicle, and a Prop 8 article that for some reason I felt like I should read it. So I start off with the article because it was short but even though it was short it packed a lot of punch into it. The whole article was about how the LDS church is to blame for Gay marriages not going through which I can see somewhat. Yes we funded support to ban gay marrigaes but we weren't the only ones doing it. There was support from all other churches. But thats not the real thing that bugged me, the fact that they want to try and build an economic wall around Utah is absurd and pretty much impossible and as much as I know that it is impossible it still bugs me that they would come up with such an idiotic plan. To try and tell a tourist not to come to utah because the population is mainly people who don't like gay marriages is like telling your friends not to go to school because the people there don't like your shoes. Toursist don't really care too much about the people they care about the scenery, if they cared so much about the people when they traveled there wouldn't be alot of people. Everywhere you go people are mean to you. Its a very childish passive aggressive move on there part.
Okay so that is rant numero uno. Numero dos is again about people, mainly stupid parents and how they raise their children again. (Not any parents I know really, you may know some yourself but I only hear about them) Parents who are very over protective/anal about their kids drive me to the point that I want to slap them because they don't know what they are doing to their childs future. Parents who decide to cling on to the child after 18 like and treat the kid like they are still 12 is stupid. Blocking what they do monitoring their stuff such as email and facebook/myspace still setting cerfews for them, basically running the kids life after the reached freedom is just going to make them worse. It seems to me that it puts them into a controlling state where they must be in control of everything that happens whether someone has already got it under control or not, and to some that bugs them. It makes the person a pest to be around. So once your kid turns 18 give them freedom, sure check up on them and see how they are doing and if they are still living with you set some ground rules but don't turn them into prisoners. I just thought that I should add a little something that Stephanie told me while I was talking to her, she told me that you also have to remember that its not only the parents fault for being so overprotective there are kids out there that are very hard to trust when they are not being watched, lack of communication loses trust as well. So in conclusion of this rant its not only the parents who need to back off but also the kids who need to build trust and keep it with their parents or else they will not go far in life, if you can build trust with your own family most likely you won't be able to build trust with anyone.
Okay onto bright subjects. So I was stumbling on websites a few weeks ago and I came across a website about the Buddhist religion. I have always been fascinated with the Buddhist religion, cause they believe that you should live your life don't here clean and humble, but you're not aiming for salvation in a higher place, unlike the Christians who believe you live you life and everything you do affects whether you get into heaven or not. Don't get me wrong, I'm Christian and I believe in trying to get into heaven but I look at some people and they seem to not really enjoy life because everything they do has a bad consequence. Here are some of the things that the Buddhist religion believe.
Four Noble Truths.
  • Suffering Exsists
  • Suffering arises from attachment to desires
  • Suffering ceases when attachment from desires ceases
  • Freedom from suffering is possible from practicing the eight fold path
The eight fold path has three different sections
  1. Wisdom
  2. Morality
  3. Meditation
This is just some of the stuff that I have found on the Buddhist, which makes them by far one of the best religions besides Christianity another reason I like them so much is because they seem to never fight with any other religion they are just peaceful fun loving people. Plus they wear really cool robes, orange robes are way better than church clothes.
Last I would like to talk about my friend Vince some of you know that he just left for basic training and won't be done til about April, he has been my best friend since 5th grade, he was the only one who never really fought with the rest of our friends all the time. Also he was the only one over the summer that I could really talk to about things that were on my mind. It was always fun to grab a couple of bikes and just bike around davis county talking about life. I plan to go see him graduate and am excited for him, but at the same time I worry for him life in the military is tough and I'm hoping he'll get through it. I wish him luck and hope he's doing fine with Sergent Butthead breathing down his neck.

Bad Luck & Bad People.

So I know I have not blogged in a while but a couple weeks ago I was going to blog about the stupid types of people in this world that I have been so lucky to see, but I never go around to it. And as most of you know I went on a road trip this past weekend down to St. George to try one of the best hamburgers In n' Out, mmmm worth the trip. But on the way I decided to take the wheel for my friend Taylor because she was going to kill us if she kept driving (if you ever drive with this girl you are going to want to be very careful).. so while I was driving I was lucky enough to be the one who got a ticket for going 93 in a 75 (just my luck). So now I'm going to do 2 blogs in 1 starting with the bad luck I have been getting and ending with the people that bug me in this world.
The reason I'm someone angry about the ticket is because it always happens to me and it always happens at the wrong time right when I'm saving up for something I get my money taken away for some stupid reason, and not only that everyone around me seems not be getting a ticket when they drive 30 40 miles over the limit, and break every driving rule in the book. I only speed and because of my first ticket I obey all the other rules. So now the paycheck I got has just vanished because I was going 15 over I have to pay $107, I also think that it is unfair that police seem to target the younger ones I don't know if its so the younger kids learn at a younger age and don't do it again (which I don't think works because people speed at all ages and it seems to mainly be the middle aged who speed because they are "late" for work) or they had a bullied childhood and are now getting back at those who look like the bullies but its just my luck that after 1 year of being ticket free I get another one, plus all the things that happened between then and now.
Now on to the people in this world that suck. Parents who believe in never saying "no" to their child it just makes them grow to be jerks that everyone hates and when someone says no they freak out and don't know how to handle it face it people the word No is used a lot nowadays and there is nothing we can do about it. Also parents who don't believe in punishment if you say no to a kid but that is all you say and don't enforce a punishment the kids never going to understand rules and will end up in jail for doing something stupid. I work with kids all the time with my job and its hard to do anything because we can't really be a parent to the kids without getting in trouble by the district so when I punish a kid for doing something wrong he/she falls to the ground and starts to cry (usual thing of kids) but then expects me to come over and say sorry and try and work things out (at this point when I was kid, my father either told me to grow up or he just left and waited til I was done) and that is what I usually do but then the parents come and basically override what I just tried to teach them and tells them if you cry you get anything you want just cry til someone who cares notices (if that makes sense). I'm now realizing that this may seem jumbled because I keep saving this blog and doing homework and then starting again at a later time like right now I'm sitting in my physiology class waiting for the instructor to show up. Anyway back to people another thing that bugs me is relationships where no one talks it just quiet all the time, for example I'm always early in the morning for math so I sit in the lunch hall and do homework and there is always a couple there that I see that walk over to a table sit down don't even say a word to each other and start reading their newspapers I don't mind the newspaper reading too much but when no one speaks I kind of go crazy.
Also people who where blue tooth at all times even indoors while talking to other people bugs me in the car yes in a office by yourself yes in a kitchen with family no its kinda rude when someone does that to me and you look like a dork.
People who confess there love over there status in Facebook and yes I have friends who do it and I don't hate them it just bugs me sure you let people know that you love them but you don't need everyone in your network know that you love someone by status and it makes it worse when they use poetic language and stuff like that ex. I love more than a star burns in the night sky and stuff like that. Yes I'm cheesy like that but only with Stephanie when no one is around because cheesyness bugs her and it somewhat bugs me but we both enjoy it.
People who ask you to be quiet or leave because they are studying in a "very public place" where there are no signs that say quiet please and you're not being annoying loud your using your inside voice which is normal but it still bugs them. Get over it people you decided to sit in a public area and do you study get used to noise or find another place to study. That is all I can think of right now and yes it makes me feel like a jerk to other people but I just thought I would rant to everyone about the types of people I dislike. I plan to blog more now that I have a laptop everywhere I go. Peace Out.
